The Verkhovna Rada, the Ukrainian Parliament will consider the bill on changing the electoral system in terms of parliamentary elections. The draft law was submitted by President Volodymyr Zelensky May 22. The respective message appeared on the parliament's website in the afternoon.

The President marked the draft law as urgent.

Andriy Parubiy, the Parliament's Speaker announced that the bill is accepted for consideration.

The document foresees the implementation of the proportional electoral system; it also offers to cut the election threshold from five percent to three. Besides, it foresees the voting for the closed, non-public lists.

Recently, Parubiy said that the draft law on the dismissal of the Parliament was illegal, while the bill on changing the electoral system in terms of parliamentary elections was filed with severe law breaches.

The urgent parliament session takes place in Kyiv, on the request of President Zelensky. The head of the state previously signed the decree on disbanding the Verkhovna Rada, offering to hold the snap parliamentary election on July 21.
