President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky submitted the draft law about the organization of state defense for the consideration of Ukrainian lawmakers. It foresees changes to the actual Law on the Defense of Ukraine.
On August 29, the profile committee considered this draft law and prepared it for urgent consideration in the session hall.
The next session of the Parliament of the 9th convocation will begin next Tuesday, September 3.
On August 29, members of the newly shaped Ukrainian Parliament gathered for the opening session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. On the very first workday, they dismissed the previous government and approved the new Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk. MPs also dismissed Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko and appointed his successor Ruslan Ryaboshapka. Eventually, they lifted the parliamentary immunity. That session began at 10 a.m. Thursday and concluded already on 2.30 a.m. Friday, lasting approximately 13 hours.
