President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky should understand that an opportunity to use someone as experienced as Viktor Medvedchuk, the head of the political board of Opposition Platform - For Life party, in the negotiations with Russia would be a sensible thing to do. MEP Nathan Gill stated this on the air of 112.Ukraine TV channel.
“I think that this is very sad that Mr. Medvedchuk has felt that he no longer has the ability, has the back in President Zelensky to act as the middle man with Russia, because, quite frankly, in the European Union and in Europe, we expect nations to be working towards peace. We want dialogue, we want President Zelensky to be speaking with his neighbors, not to be ignoring them, not to be ignoring this opportunity to have that dialogue, to have that discussion about the Donbas region,” the MEP said.
Gill believes that Zelensky should find his feet and realize that he needs to use Medvedchuk’s help in the negotiations.
“So, it is quite sad, but I think that we have a bright new president, president Zelensky. He has to find his feet. I think he will realize that an opportunity to use someone as experienced like Mr. Medvedchuk would be a sensible thing to do. I suspect that he should approach him and reopen those channels so that we could have dialogue and conversation because that is what needed today. We do not need to be ignoring our neighbors, we need to be speaking with them,” the politician added.
