Economic cooperation between Ukraine and the United States will be one of the key topics of the future meeting between Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump. Zelensky said this in an interview on the occasion of 100 days of his presidency.
"We are ready to talk with America about business between our countries. Well, there are still questions of international relations, the question of an end of the war. We expect their support. But they openly support us," Zelensky said.
He emphasized that the USA is a strategic partner of Ukraine in many areas, especially in the energy sector, the energy security sector, and the defense industry.
"Presidents need to meet, get acquainted, look into the eyes. To say what country's spheres are they interested in. We will say what we need from them. We will not meet them with opened arms. No. We say: we are offering you to invest in the country. We need cheaper money," said the head of state.
At the same time, he noted that Ukraine will work to strengthen confidence in the law enforcement system.
"We should be an independent and strong country and be proud of it. We should not go and say:" Please, you are such a great country, give us a little money, and we will support you." Not at all. We are a normal country. We just have a war going on. We are strong and we have very good people, so let's work together. You are interested in Ukraine's economy, enterprises, our land, energy complex. Give money, please, invest," said the President of Ukraine.
Earlier, US National Security Advisor John Bolton said during his visit to Ukraine that US President Donald Trump plans to meet with Ukrainian leader on September 1 in Warsaw, where both were invited to mark the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II. Olena Zerkal, Deputy Foreign Minister for European Integration, said that during the meeting in Warsaw, the leaders will sign a number of documents.
However, Trump canceled his visit to Warsaw in connection with the approach of the strong hurricane Dorian to the US territory.
