President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky declared that he would not allow such a situation in Donbas, as in Bosnian Srebrenica that the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin fears. He said this on the air of "1+1" TV Channel.
"It will not be like in Srebrenica there (In Donbas - ed.). We are other people ... free, democratic. We treat our citizens with respect. There will be no massacre, that is how I said to Putin. Another government, another country: the most important thing for us is human life," Zelensky said.
He once again emphasized that there are Ukrainians living in the temporality occupied territories and they should be returned to Ukraine not only in terms of territories, but also mentally. The President is ready to do his best in order for this to happen.
As we reported earlier, President of Russia Vladimir Putin stated that in terms of the absence of the amnesty law towards the citizens of Donbas, the establishment of the control over the border with Russia by Ukraine could lead to the mass destruction of the citizens of unrecognized Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics as Interfax informed.
At the meeting with the Council on Human Rights of President of Russia, Putin reported that the possible persecution of people who live in the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic and Donetsk People’s Republic was one of the topics of his discussions with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in Paris.
“The law on the amnesty is still not adopted. It was agreed in 2015; some decisions are present, but it does not work. And Ukrainian side always raises the issue: 'provide us with the possibility to close the border with the troops',” Putin said.
