President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin discussed the process of exchange of persons detained in separate areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, Crimea and the Russian Federation during the telephone conversation. This was reported by the press service of the President's Office.

In the course of the conversation, the presidents discussed the implementation of the agreements reached during the Normandy Summit, which was held on December 9, 2019, in Paris, as well as the preparation for the next meeting of the Normandy Four leaders.

"Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin have focused their attention on the process of release of Ukrainian citizens who are currently detained in the temporarily occupied territories of Donbas and Crimea, as well as in the Russian Federation," the message reads.

The parties also agreed on the need to step up work at the level of the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk in order to implement the agreements that have been reached.

As we reported before, self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic believes that the exchange of detained persons with Ukraine in 'all for all' format is impossible until the military actions are discontinued.
