Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky assured that Ukraine would not interfere in the electoral processes of the United States. The head of state said this in his Telegram channel, commenting on the statements of the US counterintelligence about the interference of Ukrainians in the elections.
"As the President of Ukraine, I want to emphasize both my personal principled position and the fundamental position of our state as a whole. Interfering in the sovereign elections of another country is never, under any circumstances, unacceptable. Once again I assure our partners that Ukraine is not allowed and will not allow itself to interfere in the elections in the future and thereby damage our trusting and sincere partnership with the United States," Zelensky said.
He also noted that preventing the country from being drawn into the internal politics of the United States is a matter of Ukrainian national security. At the same time, the president advised the citizens of Ukraine to refrain from any activity related to the presidential elections in the United States, and not to allow themselves to be used to solve personal political or business problems.
At the same time, according to Zelensky, Ukraine expects from its partners no less respectful attitude towards its sovereign right to internal affairs and the internal choice of its priorities.
Earlier, the head of the National Center for Counterintelligence and Security of the United States, William Evanina, said that Russia was trying to interfere in the American elections with the help of Ukrainian MP Andriy Derkach.
