“We want to continue our relations with the IMF. I emphasize this,” President Volodymyr Zelensky said in Canada. He, like Petro Poroshenko, wants to get another billion from the Fund. And it does not matter that this tranche, in fact, will not solve anything for the country. Before the elections, it would be a beautiful fact.
But the trouble is, the IMF does not give billions so easy. The things that the Fund requested from Poroshenko were now put forward to Zelensky - privatization, the land market and a number of other "reforms." Poroshenko could and would like to sell Ukrainian land in order to get a billion-other, but the Verkhovna Rada said categorical "No!". And who will stop Zelensky if he has a coalition in his parliament from his MPs and the same proponents of the sale of land? It is not ruled out that the new government will soon put strategic enterprises (Zelensky promised to start large privatization in 2019) and the land for sale. He would sell something else, but nothing is left. Is this libertarianism, according to Zelensky?
Zelensky deceived the Ukrainians. Well done. I hope 73% have not forgotten that our new hope of the whole country spoke about the IMF and its policies before the election? Zelensky beat himself in the chest and insisted on revising the conditions, in particular, the amount of interest that would have to be returned to the Fund for using its money. And in the Servant of the People TV show, which by and large replaced Zelensky’s election program, was about paying all the debts and stopping cooperation with the IMF. For its loans are the deathbed for dying states. Yes, everyone understood this, and many Ukrainians, voting for Zelensky, kept in mind the script of the series (these are, of course, problems of voters who voted for the TV picture). Down with the IMF and its conditions! Yeah of course!
This position existed not so long. It lasted exactly until the meeting with the IMF mission, which took place on May 28. Then it turned out in a magical way that "the vision of the country's development and cooperation with the International Monetary Fund of Zelensky team completely coincides with how the IMF sees it." Zelensky is not going to stop cooperation and will not demand any adjustments, nor does he intend to review the conditions.
And I remind you that one of the conditions of the Fund was to increase the cost of gas for Ukrainian consumers to the market price. It turns out that by winter we will have to wait for the next jump in tariffs for utilities. In the end, Zelensky already warned that he had joked about the tariff reduction during the election campaign.
It turns out, Poroshenko was a cynical bastard, for he forced the Ukrainians to tighten their belts, squeezing out the last juices from the people, and Zelensky, who came to power in the wake of Poroshenko’s hatred, made it clear in a month that he would continue his predecessor's policy? This is a very instructive story for a people who do not read election programs but vote for a nice new face.
Interestingly, when the IMF asks Zelensky to close all hospitals to save money, will the president go for that? Well, if we sell enterprises and land to foreigners, why should they keep so many people in this colony ...
And what about our people? Two months will be enough for them to figure out that we are in trouble? I hope that is enough because the elections will take place in three weeks. And this is the last hope to stop the sale of Ukraine for a billion in the pocket of Kolomoysky, Zelensky and their buddies.
