President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky promised mayor of Cherkasy Anatoly Bondarenko "legal consequences" for the weakening of lockdown measures. The President said so during his appeal to the Ukrainians, which was broadcasted by 112 Ukraine.

According to Zelensky, the mitigation of quarantine measures in Cherkasy is an attempt to earn political ratings at the cost of the life and health of city residents.

"Special "greetings" personally from the president, as well as from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Security Service of Ukraine - I want to convey these to the mayor of Cherkasy, who, together with the city council, lost the calendar and was going to mitigate quarantine measures before May 11 ... This will entail appropriate legal consequences, "Zelensky said.

He noted that this applies to all representatives of local authorities who confuse the words "decentralization" and "autonomy".

"There is no need to engage in amateur activities that threaten the safety of people," the president added.
Earlier, Zelensky stated that the Ukrainian government has a clear plan of emerging of the country from quarantine imposed due to Covid-19.

“I support the decision of the Ukrainian government to extend the quarantine until May 11. It is a right step, which is based on the analytics of the National Academy of Sciences and the Health Ministry. We have a clear plan of emerging from quarantine. Soon, the prime minister will announce a more detailed scenario, consisting of five stages of emerging from quarantine,” the president noted.

Besides, Zelensky noted that the emerging of the country from quarantine will take with the presence of two key demands.

“The first one: during 10 days, the percentage of spotted infections does not change or stays within 5%. The second demand: the hospitals are filled with patients with Covid-19 less than for a half,” Zelensky concluded.
