President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has ordered the Security Service and Interior Ministry to consider all risks and provide protection to the citizens of Belarus, who arrived in Ukraine during the past six months as the President’s Office reported.
“Every Belarusian who can become a target for criminals due to his/her public political position should get special and reliable protection. The SBU and MIA should develop a clear algorithm of estimation of possible risks and the system of responding to these risks to eliminate every threat for these people,” the president stated.
The list of the Belarusian citizens is made toward whom the proper events on the estimation of risks were started; extra accompaniment of their stay in the territory of Ukraine and security guard.
This decision was made due to the information received by the law enforcement bodies about possible threats for a number of the Belarusian activists, as well as due to the death of Vitaliy Shishov – the political activist from Belarus, who lived in Ukraine.
The President’s Office noted that Zelensky expects a comprehensive investigation of all circumstances of the death of Shishov, a quick and full check of information, and regular and sufficient information for the society provided by the National Police.
As it was reported earlier, the leader of the Belarusian house in Ukraine Vitaliy Shishov disappeared on August 2. Later police found hanged Shishov's body in Kyiv's park. The public organization Belarusian House in Ukraine claimed that he was killed as part of a "special operation planned by Belarusian KGB."
