President Volodymyr Zelensky called the scandalous decision of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine on the abolition of provisions of anti-corruption legislation a manifestation of a conspiracy of old elites and oligarchs against the head of state and country. On Sunday, November 1, he wrote about this on his Facebook page.
“I know for sure that today's demarche of the Constitutional Court is a public manifestation of a conspiracy of some of the old elites and oligarchs against the President and against the country. Nothing else. Because only a weak president and a weak state are a guarantee of preserving their corrupt lifestyle. As they say, on Halloween all the devils from the political hell reveal their real faces. Coincidentally. You know the names of the devils very well," the president wrote.
Zelensky expressed the opinion that by its decision the court "decided to oppose itself to the state and society."
"... This is not at all about fair political competition. And not at all about the Constitution, the rule of law, legality. And certainly not about a fair future. Rather, this is about our traditional dirty politics, when our society receives only poverty. About the conspiracy of the old elites who do not want a normal state here at all. This is about how one should not do it in the modern world," the head of state believes.
Earlier the Constitutional Court of Ukraine recognized the unconstitutional provision on criminal liability for declaring false information, which caused criticism from both law enforcement and control bodies. According to the decision of the court, criminal liability for declaring false information is "excessive punishment" for a person.
The President of Ukraine, in turn, said that the electronic income declaration system will continue to operate despite the decision of the Constitutional Court, and the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption has restored public access to the registers of declarations of officials and MPs.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy introduced draft law No. 4288 to the Verkhovna Rada, which proposes to deprive the judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine of their powers and restore the law on a declaration that they had canceled.
