The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Nord Stream 2 is not an economic project, but a security issue for Ukraine and other European Union countries. He said this in an interview with LRT.
According to Zelensky, many countries understand that the gas pipeline is a security issue not only for Ukraine, but also for many other EU countries.
"I believe that these issues can be resolved only comprehensively. It is impossible to solve the problems of the European continent at the cost of Ukraine. I believe that this is simply unacceptable. Therefore, we will fight as much as we can and, and I am sure, longer than many countries," he said.
As it was reported earlier, a spokesman for Ukrainian President, Serhiy Nikiforov, said that during his visit to Germany, the Ukrainian leader did not plan to discuss compensation for the launch of Nord Stream 2.
According to the president's spokesman, Zelensky "will try to stop the launch of the gas pipeline."
At the same time, Nord Stream 2 company, which is laying the pipeline, announced that they expect to complete the construction of the pipeline by the end of August, as it has been completed by 98%.
