Today, on July 20, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky officially introduced the new Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Kyrylo Shevchenko and praised his candidacy. He did this during the official presentation of the National Bank's new governor.
"Today I am pleased to officially present the new head of the National Bank Kyrylo Shevchenko. As president, I fully support the statement that the head of the NBU should be independent. In addition to independence, the head of the NBU must have at least three other important qualities: professionalism, courage, and responsibility. I am convinced that Mr. Shevchenko is just the right kind of person," Zelensky said.
According to the President of Ukraine, Kyrylo Shevchenko is "a professional that the National Bank, the economy, and the whole country need."
"He has more than 20 years of experience, he has passed all the steps in banking. In addition, he became the chairman of Ukrgasbank in the first transparent competition," said the guarantor.
As we reported earlier, Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appointed Kyrylo Shevchenko as a new Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine on July 16.
