President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during which they discussed issues of trade cooperation, as well as the joint fight against the Covid-19 coronavirus infection. The press service of the President's Office reports.
At the beginning of the conversation, the President of Ukraine informed the Prime Minister of Israel that on the line of demarcation between the occupied Donbas and the territory controlled by Ukraine, isolated cases of violation of the silence regime by the militants are recorded, but in general the ceasefire regime continues, and one of the important agreements reached by the leaders countries of the ‘Normandy format’ based on the results of the December summit in Paris, is being implemented.
Then Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated Benjamin Netanyahu on an important event for regional security - the achievement of agreements on the normalization of relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
This is a historic achievement and a vivid example of the opportunities for dialogue and diplomacy that other countries can inherit," the President of Ukraine said.
Netanyahu noted that is not the first peace agreement with an Arab country for Israel, and expressed the hope that there will be other peace agreements and eventually peace will reign in the region.
The parties also discussed measures taken by the governments of the two countries to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. Volodymyr Zelensky informed the interlocutor that another anti-record for the incidence of coronavirus disease has been recorded in Ukraine in a day and an adaptive quarantine regime is in effect in the country.
The President of Ukraine also noted the interest of the Ukrainian side in purchasing the Israeli coronavirus vaccine for its citizens, which is currently being tested in Israel.
"Ukraine should be among the friends of Israel who will be the first to join the research and use of the vaccine," Volodymyr Zelensky said.
During the conversation, the sides also discussed the activation of trade cooperation between Ukraine and Israel. Netanyahu said that his government will soon complete the ratification of the Free Trade Agreement between the countries.
Volodymyr Zelensky also told Benjamin Netanyahu that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is working to provide the holidays of Passover, Hanukkah and Rosh Hashanah with state status.
