Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko said that negotiations on prisoners' exchange between Ukraine and the Russian Federation are going "very actively", and Western partners do not want to participate in them. MFA head stated this in an interview with Hromadske.

"I want to tell you that the work is moving very actively. I will not announce anything, but I hope that in the near future we will have additional reasons for joy," Prystaiko said.

According to him, the exchange dialogue is so "delicate" that Ukraine’s western partners do not want to take part in it, given that during the previous exchange Ukraine had to release the main witness in MH17 case, Vladimir Tsemakh.

The Foreign Minister also emphasized that President Zelensky had personally agreed on the previous mutual release of prisoners of war.

Earlier, President of Ukraine said that the Ukrainian side was awaiting the next stage of the exchange and was already preparing new lists.

In turn, Russia does not rule out a new exchange of prisoners with Ukraine. This was stated by spokesman for Russian President, Dmitry Peskov.

Peskov believes that this process will be long and painstaking.

“This requires the beginning of a new process, an exchange of views, a very painstaking and probably time-stretched work. No one a priori feels the possibility and expediency of such a process, so this is a matter of bilateral contacts,” Dmitry Peskov said.

He also noted that Ukraine and the Russian Federation have not yet discussed the fate of Ukrainian ships detained in the Kerch Strait.

“I’m not ready to discuss this topic now. Apparently, within the framework of the contacts between Moscow and Kyiv, this issue should be raised. And when it is raised, it will be considered,” Dmitry Peskov said.
