The meeting of Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres took place on September 26 in New York, UN HQ as the President’s Office reported.
Zelensky and Guterres shook hands on the 38th floor of the building of the UN HQ as the cabinet of Secretary-General is situated there as Ukrinform reported.
Ukraine’s president thanked UN Secretary-General for humanitarian support of his citizens suffering from Russian aggression.
Moreover, Zelensky urged the UN for active work on monitoring the violation of human rights in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
This meeting was the final one during the visit of the Ukrainian leader to New York.
Zelensky paid the official visit to the U.S. for the participation in the 74th UN General Assembly session. In New York, the Ukrainian leader delivered a speech during the common debates of the UNGA session. He will also participate in the summit on the Sustainable Development Goals.
President Zelensky held a lot of international meetings, including the most important with U.S. President Trump on September 25.
