President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensly held the phone talk with German’s Chancellor Angela Merkel. They discussed the issue of three extra areas for disengagement of forces in Donbas. The sides expect that the progress in this issue will be reached during the next Minsk Talks on February 12 as the President’s Office reported.
“The head of the Ukrainian State informed the interlocutor about the security situation in Donbas. The Federal Chancellor expressed concern over the non-observance of the ceasefire regime by the illegal armed forces,” the message said.
During the talk, Zelensky and Merkel discussed the extension of the personal EU sanctions against former top officials of Ukraine suspected in the misuse of public funds and commitment of crimes during Maidan time.
Earlier, the Ukrainian side offered to create the additional subgroup on border issue during the session of the Trilateral Contact Group.
As we reported, Defense Minister of Ukraine Andriy Zahorodniuk stated that the ongoing disengagement in Donbas does not significantly affect the security situation; that is more like a way to solve humanitarian problems for the locals.
