President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin as the President’s Office of Ukraine reported.

During the meeting, Zelensky underlined that Israel is one of the key trade partners of Ukraine in the Middle East region.

“I am sure that the free trade agreement signed between our countries in January 2019 will contribute to the further growth of mutual trade turnover. The implementation of its points can help increase the trade turnover up to $ 2 billion in the short term,” Volodymyr Zelensky said.

The sides also discussed the memory of the victims of the Holocaust.

“We stand in full solidarity with the people of Israel in honoring the memory of the Holocaust victims. The tragedy of Babyn Yar is known all over the world. In 2020, the construction of the Babyn Yar National Historical and Memorial Reserve is planned to begin in Ukraine. It should include the Ukrainian Holocaust Museum and the Babyn Yar Victims Memorial Museum,” Zelensky noted.

On January 23, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has begun his working visit to Israel. The program of the visit includes negotiations with Israel’s leadership and a meeting with representatives of Israeli business circles.

Earlier, Volodymyr Zelensky and the Ukrainian delegation gave their places at the World Holocaust Forum to the victims of the Holocaust. However, the Israeli national memorial to the victims of the Holocaust Yad Vashem expressed regret due to the decision of President Volodymyr Zelensky.
