President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky joined the opening of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly on Tuesday. Office of the President reported that on Tuesday. 

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and President of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly Abdulla Shahid, President of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro and US President Joe Biden held speeches during the ceremony.

Zelensky will make a speech on September 22, during the general debates of the UN General Assembly.

The Ukrainian leader arrived in New York on September 20 in order to participate in the work of the Assembly. He is supposed to negotiate with the leaders of other countries and representatives of international organizations. Zelensky will also meet with businessmen, investors and representatives of the Ukrainian society in the U.S.

The Ukrainian leader believes that this visit should be used for bilateral meetings with different countries with the maximal effect.

“For example, we will have a meeting with the President of Turkey. We all know the statement of Turkey on non-recognition of the annexation of Crimea by Russia and non-recognition of the elections to the State Duma of Russia due to the involvement of the citizens of occupied Ukrainian territories,” he said.
