Zelensky instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to diversify the supply of gas, oil, oil products and anthracite to 30% from one source. By decree No. 874, he approved the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on urgent measures to ensure energy security that day.
“To ensure the development by July 1, 2020 of the diversification of sources and routes of supplies of oil, oil products, natural and liquefied gas, coal of anthracite grades, providing for supplies from a single source of not more than 30% of the total supply, and make an appropriate decision,” Cabinet of Ministers received such an order.
In addition, the government should, in cooperation with the institutions of the European Union, take measures to preserve the transit of natural gas through the gas transmission system of Ukraine after January 1, 2020.
Among other instructions to the Cabinet of Ministers is to develop a set of measures to neutralize the negative impact on the Ukrainian economy as a result of restrictive measures of the Russian Federation, in particular, with respect to goods prohibited and restricted for export from Russia to Ukraine (among them coal, oil and oil products).
The government should also organize checks on the compliance status in 2017 - 2019 with the requirements of the legislation in the field of extraction, supply and sale of coal and natural gas, in particular, to provide natural gas to the population, thermal power plants and heat and communal energy, as a result of which to take appropriate response measures.
As we reported, The Voice of Ukraine published Law No. 2249, which will simplify the procedure for transferring contractual relations of the old gas transmission system operator to the new.
