"President discussed with His Holiness Pope Francis the peace in Donbas and his visit to Ukraine," the message says.
Also, during the conversation, Zelensky thanked Pope Francis for his constant prayers for peace and tranquility in Ukraine. He also said that our state lost more than 14,000 people in the war in Donbas, and 1.5 million Ukrainians were forced to leave their homes.
"We look forward to engaging with the Holy See and your support in bringing peace to Donbas. The support of the international community and spiritual leaders is extremely important," Zelensky said.
The President also renewed the invitation to Pope Francis to visit Ukraine.
As we reported earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed his readiness to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, but first, there must be an understanding of what issues are to be discussed.
