President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with US Senators Ron Johnson, John Barrasso and Chris Murphy. This was reported by the presidential press service.

The parties discussed the progress of reform processes in Ukraine. In particular, Zelensky noted the priority of anti-corruption reform and cooperation with the International Monetary Fund.

"We have very good relations with the IMF. We are doing a lot to fight corruption, we are restarting the law enforcement system, we are adopting many bills in order for that to happen," the president said.

The Head of Ukrainian State spoke on the laws that promote de-oligarchization, and stated that Ukraine was preparing more than 50,000 state-owned enterprises for privatization.

"We are fighting against monopolies, now privatization is under open competition. This will also help fighting corruption in our country," he said.

In turn, the senators confirmed that they saw positive changes in Ukraine, and promised U.S. support for Kyiv in its efforts.

As we reported earlier, Republican Senators Ron Johnson and John Barrasso and Democratic Senator Chris Murphy came to Kyiv on February 14. They are seeking to reinforce the importance of Ukraine as a strategic U.S. ally after President Donald Trump’s acrimonious impeachment trial ended.

The U.S.-Ukraine relationship is as important now as ever,” Republican Senators Ron Johnson and John Barrasso and Democratic Senator Chris Murphy said in a statement after they announced their trip.

The future of Ukraine matters to the United States and we must make sure Ukraine knows that we view them as a strategic ally,” they said.
