Chairman of Political Council of Opposition Platform - For Life party and MP Viktor Medvedchuk expressed his opinion on drop of the ratings of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his policy on Donbas conflict settlement and economic issues on air of 112 Ukraine TV channel.
"Firstly, yes, certainly, the ratings will be falling. And not to let them fall, the authorities should start acting, they should take concrete steps in people's interests. I believe that the main defining issue of why the drop did happen is that people start seeing clearly things related to how Mr. Zelensky is going to terminate the hostilities and bring peace to Donbas. I think this is the main criterium. Because 80% of Ukraine's citizens long for peace and has been telling about it for the last several years. And these expectations, which Mr. Zelensky and his party received during the presidential and parliament elections start melting," Medvedchuk said.
Viktor Medvedchul also believes that if the President does not take measures to stop the hostilities, the drop of his ratings will continue, as the Ukrainians do not see any progress in these issues for now.
"And if Mr. Zelensky continues the doing-nothing policy, as I call it, and explanations policy why he does not do anything in peace and hostilities cessation issues, I think there will be other speed of ratings dropping. This is the main question. And certainly, you are right about the other things, as there is no progress in the issues. And when we see the program of the government today, when we see the budget which began moving according to his (Mr. Zelensky - ed.) plan, and the plan is approved in the first reading, we understand that further steps in economical or social spheres will bring nothing good in terms of raitings for Mr. Zelensky and his team," the MP added.
