Zelensky congratulated the head of the European Council on assuming office and wished him success at the head of the highest body of the European Union.
The conversation took place on the eve of the meeting of the European Council, during which, as expected, EU leaders will discuss the issue of extending economic sanctions against Russia.
Zelensky also informed Michel about the restoration after a three-year pause of the process of peaceful settlement of the conflict with the Russian Federation in the Donbas and the main results of the Normandy summit, which was held on December 9 in Paris.
“I hope that the leaders of the EU member states maintain unity in supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as in continuing sanction pressure on the Russian Federation until the Minsk agreements are fully implemented and Ukraine’s territorial integrity is restored,” President of Ukraine added.
As we reported, the text of the draft law proposing amendments to the Law ‘On special order of local self-government in certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions’ has appeared.
