If the number of newly infected people per day exceeds 9,500, strict quarantine will be introduced in the country. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky at a meeting with representatives of regional communities, the press service of the President's Office reported.
"The situation will become critical for the medical system of Ukraine when there are more than 9,500 daily infections with coronavirus. If we have more than 9500 infected daily, we will be forced to introduce strict quarantine. But then the economy of our country will stop and it will be very difficult for everyone," Zelensky said.
The number of people infected with coronavirus exceeded 300 000 in Ukraine. 4766 cases of Covid-19 were detected in the country per day. In total, 5,673 people (+66 per day) died in the country as a result of complications caused by coronavirus disease, but 126,489 (+1,112) patients have already recovered.
Ukraine’s capital is now preparing additional beds for the treatment of patients with Covid-19 all by itself. This was stated by the mayor of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klitschko, during an online press conference.
"As of now, the city is working on extra beds in hospitals on its own, equips departments, and allocates funds from the capital's reserve fund. It does everything to protect the health and lives of Kyiv residents," Klitschko said.
He noted that Kyiv had not yet received a response from the government to the city authorities' request to transfer sick Kyivites to equipped hospitals with medical staff provided by the Academy of Medical Sciences, the Ministry of Health, and departmental medical institutions.
