The signing of the declaration of the European prospect of Ukraine approaches the full-fledged integration in the European Union as the Office of Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky reported after his visit to Warsaw.
“The presidents of Ukraine and Poland canceled the intention of Ukraine to file an application for EU membership in the future after the implementation of paragraphs of the Association Agreement with the observation of Copenhagen criteria and agreed that the Republic of Poland will support Ukraine on this way,” the document says.
It is the second document concluded between Ukraine and the EU state. In March 2021, such a declaration was signed with Lithuania. The text of the joint declaration of the leaders establishes that the Ukrainian state has the European prospect in accordance with Article 49 of the Agreement with the EU.
In the context of the earlier announced idea of holding of the summit with the participation of President of the European Council Charles Michel and leaders of the associated countries of the Eastern Partnership, the President’s Office notes that Ukraine is ready to enhance the European society in the east of the European continent together with Georgia and Moldova. That is why the leaders of Ukraine and Poland noted in the joint declaration the necessity in the strategic reconsideration of the European policy of the neighborhood and the Eastern Partnership to guarantee the policy of “open doors” for associated partners that have European aspirations and meet proper terms and criteria.
Currently, the systematic work continues with all states – the EU members for receiving consistent political support on the way of Ukraine to the EU.
On May 3, the joint declaration was signed by the leaders of Ukraine and Poland on Warsaw's support for Kyiv's European aspirations.
