President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky expects that the Cabinet of Ministers will adopt all the necessary legislation to reform the alcohol sector and start preparing Ukrainian State-Owned Enterprise of Alcohol and Liquor Industry (Ukrspyrt) for privatization within two months. This was reported by the President’s press service.
At a meeting with representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Verkhovna Rada, which took place on Tuesday, Zelensky emphasized the importance of introducing an electronic excise stamp, implementation of the law "On state regulation of production and circulation of alcohol", as well as market liberalization.
In addition, the President noted that law enforcement agencies, together with the government and the President's Office, should step up the fight against illicit alcohol trafficking.
As we reported earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers transferred 530 state-owned enterprises, the total cost of which amounts to more than 512 million dollars, for privatization. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk has informed about it on his Twitter page.
Auctions are scheduled to begin in 2020.
"In almost 4 months, more state-owned objects have been transferred for privatization than in all 28 years of independence," Ukraine’s PM wrote.
