"The sides discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation, in particular the development of political dialogue, prospects for trade, economic and investment cooperation, Italy's support for the reform process in Ukraine and the integration of our state into Euro-Atlantic structures," the statement said.
As Zelensky noted, it is important for Ukraine to develop relations with Italy as an influential member of the EU and NATO.
The President of Ukraine also added that new opportunities are now opening up for enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
Earlier Zelensky during an audience with Pope Francis invited the pontiff to Ukraine.
Zelensky noted that people expect to see Pope in Ukraine.
“I invited him to Ukraine. I’m sure that he will visit Ukraine - not only the capital. I said that in order to fully understand what is happening in our east, we need to go to the east,” summed up Volodymyr Zelensky.
The President also noted the important role that the Holy See could play in bringing peace to Ukrainian soil.
"The main thing we talked about is peace. He even called me the "president of peace" - this is my image in Europe now," Zelensky said after the audience.
