Zelensky discusses energy cooperation, European integration with President of Lithuania

Lithuanian President invites his Ukrainian counterpart to Vilnius

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed with his Lithuanian counterpart Gitanas Nauseda the progress of Ukraine in the European Union, as well as the intensification of cooperation in the field of alternative energy. The sides discussed this during a meeting on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the World War II outbreak, Zelensky's press service reports.

Reportedly, the Ukrainian leader assured that the government would continue reforms within the framework of European integration.

"We have chosen this course, and we will continue to carry out reforms. We will implement them not for the European Union, but for ourselves. However, they coincide with the EU’s vision," the president said.

It is noted that the leaders of the countries positively assessed the economic and investment cooperation of the two states, and also emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation in these areas.

The Lithuanian side confirmed the preparations for the International Conference on Reforms in Ukraine, which will be held in 2020 in Lithuania.

At the meeting, participants also discussed issues of a peaceful settlement of the Donbas conflict, in particular in the framework of the Normandy format.

The President of Lithuania invited Volodymyr Zelensky to Vilnius. The head of the Ukrainian state urged the Lithuanians to visit the investment forum in Mariupol this fall and take part in restoring the infrastructure of Donbas.
