"The importance of uninterrupted transport support for trade between the countries, in particular, the supply of food, medical supplies and equipment, was noted separately. The parties agreed to join forces to unblock the transport links between Italy and Ukraine through restrictions imposed by a number of transit countries," - the statement said.
The president also thanked the Italian government for helping organize the evacuation of Ukrainian citizens who were blocked on the border with Slovenia.
Separately, politicians discussed the issue of returning home to 125 Ukrainians who are in Rome. Giuseppe Conte promised that they would arrive home on a special charter flight of Italian airlines on March 25th.
In addition, taking into account Italy’s considerable experience in the fight against coronavirus, Zelensky noted Ukraine’s interest in establishing information exchange at the level of the health services of the two countries in order to study new industry standards and recommendations that are being introduced in Italy to combat the disease.
