Zelensky convenes National Security Council session today

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky decided to hold the session of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC). It is scheduled for Friday, February 26. Office of the President reported that on late Thursday.

Members of the Council are to make decisions regarding the matters of national security.

Earlier, the Ukrainian authority decided to introduce sanctions against eight individuals, including Ukrainian MPs, and 19 companies registered in Russia, Moldova and other countries. President Zelensky signed the respective document.

Prior to that, the NSDC introduced sanctions against three opposition news channels, 112 Ukraine, NewsOne and ZIK. According to the respective decree, the restrictions will last for five years. All three TV channels have been blocked.

112 Ukraine, NewsOne and ZIK assess the sanctions as "political execution of the dissent media". The media plan to keep fighting for their right to broadcast and stay on air.
