Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky said the President’s Office did not put pressure on Yakiv Smoliy, and assured that he had good relations with the former head of the National Bank of Ukraine. The president stated this at a briefing during a working trip to the Odesa region, 112 Ukraine reports.
“As for the [former] Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine, you can personally ask him if there was pressure from the President’s Office. It seems to me that the journalists have already asked and received the answer: he (Smoliy, - 112 International) said no. We had very good relations with him, not only on a professional, but also on a human level," Zelensky said.
As we reported before, the reason for the cancellation by the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine of the deal on the placement of 12-year Eurobonds at $ 1.75 billion is the need for investors to evaluate the news about the resignation of the head of the NBU, Yakiv Smoliy.
