Zelensky changes composition of Defense Council

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has issued a decree on changes in the composition of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. The corresponding decree was published by the press service of the President's Office.

According to the presidential decree, Pavlo Ryabikin - Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine and Yulia Svyrydenko - Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy were introduced to the staff of the NSDC. In addition, Oleksiy Reznikov was approved for the position of Minister of Defense of Ukraine.

Oleksiy Lyubchenko, Andriy Taran, Oleh Urusky were removed from the NSDC.

As we reported earlier, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Oleksiy Reznikov as the new Minister of Defense of Ukraine. 273 MPs supported the decision.

"To appoint Oleksiy Y. Reznikov as Minister of Defense of Ukraine," the resolution submitted by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky says.

Reznikov was fired from the position of Vice Prime Minister - Minister for Temporarily Occupied Territories, to which he was appointed on March 4, 2020.

In 2008-2014 Reznikov was the Kyiv City Council MP of the 6th convocation. Since June 2014 he became the Kyiv City Council MP of the 7th convocation. He was also elected Kyiv Deputy Mayor - Secretary of the City Council. Since April 2016 - Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration. From September 18, 2019, - representative of Ukraine in the working subgroup on political issues. From May 5, 2020 - First Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group.
