Zelensky approves ratification of agreement on employment with Lithuania

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed the draft law #0021 On ratification of the agreement between the Cabinet of Minister of Ukraine and the government of Lithuania on employment and cooperation in the labor migration sphere.

“The goal of the adoption of the act is the ratification of the agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and government of Lithuania on the employment and cooperation in the labor migration sphere signed December 7, 2018,” the explanatory note says.

According to Deputy Minister of Social Policy Oleg Koval, this agreement will facilitate the strengthening and development of the cooperation in the provision of the protection of the rights and interests of the workers of both states and fight against illegal work. The ratification of the agreement will provide the possibility for the official employment of the citizens of Ukraine and Lithuania and improve the financial state of the Ukrainian families. Besides, the ratification will allow to attract highly qualified specialists and workers from Lithuania to Ukraine.

On February 5, 2020, ratified an agreement with Lithuania on employment and cooperation in the field of labor migration, adopting bill № 0021. 324 MPs voted in favor.

As we reported earlier, the 2019-unemployment rate in Ukraine was considered to be one of the highest in comparison with other European countries. This is stated in the Labor Market Overview, provided by the Ministry of Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture.
