President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky talked on the phone with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. This was reported by the press service of the president.
Zelensky and Merkel agreed to arrange the Normandy format meeting in the near future. It is also known that on September 2, a preparatory meeting of diplomatic advisers to the heads of state will take place.
"The heads of state discussed the results of the G7 summit in Biarritz. President of Ukraine thanked the Federal Republic of Germany for its consistent position regarding the impossibility of Russia's returning to the G7 in the context of aggression against Ukraine and the occupation of Crimea. Volodymyr Zelensky informed about the security situation in eastern Ukraine, in particular, on the Ukrainian side of the separation of forces agreement," the report said.
Merkel and Zelensky also discussed Ukrainian-German cooperation.
