Zelensky, Macron discuss capturing of Ukrainian sailors by Russia

Ukraine will continue to cooperate with NATO to maintain and guarantee the security of maritime borders

After meeting in Paris, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and French President Emmanuel Macron stated the importance of the release of Ukrainian sailors captured in the Kerch Strait by Russian border troops in April.

French President has assured he intends to do everything possible to return the sailors to Ukraine.

Volodymyr Zelensky, in turn, thanked France for its position on Russia's actions in the Black and Azov Seas and stressed that Ukraine will continue to work with NATO to maintain and guarantee the security of its maritime borders.

“All of them should be released as soon as possible. And Russia should fulfill the decision of the International Tribunal and return the captured sailors. And I believe in that,” declared Zelensky.

France is ready to hold a Normandy format meeting when certain gestures will be made to confirm the commitment to achieve peace in Donbas. This was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron after a meeting with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, reports 112 Ukraine.

"As for the situation in Donbas. The conflict that has been going on for five years, and it is tearing Europe apart... We want to return to the Minsk format so that the country returns to peace. I am ready to support you, Mr. President, in this intention. And in the dialogue with Russia too. When the time comes, France is ready to hold a meeting in the Normandy format to confirm its commitments, but so far we need to have certain gestures, certain steps in order to confirm the intention to fulfill these commitments," he said.
