First Deputy Prosecutor General Roman Hovda violated the law, having failed to submit in time a motion to extend the investigation period in the case of the Chairman of the Political Council of the Opposition Platform - For Life party and MP Viktor Medvedchuk. The journalist Volodymyr Boyko states that according to the amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, adopted in connection with the spread of coronavirus disease on April 13, 2020 # 558-IX, it was established that “motion for an extension of the period of detention is submitted no later than ten days before the expiration of the previous ruling on detention."
So, the Office of the President of Ukraine did not file a motion either before 10 days or before 5 days, thus completely violated the law.
Why did it happen? I believe that the purpose of such actions on the part of the Office of the Prosecutor General was to limit the opportunities for defense for Viktor Medvedchuk's lawyers.
Zelensky, in his fear of the opposition leader, has already trampled on the Constitution and laws of Ukraine, illegally imposing sanctions against a citizen of Ukraine, and now it's the turn of the Criminal Procedure Code. Imagine, if they act this way with the leader of the opposition, then what kind of lawlessness do the security forces under Zelensky, - all these prosecutors, security officers and others – allow themselves toward ordinary citizens?
Medvedchuk and his lawyers completely smashed all the arguments and accusations of the authorities during the first court hearing.
They will break them now too and no tricks will help Zelensky and prosecutors.
