Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andriy Zagorodniuk discussed security in the Black Sea region and the possible risks of the upcoming Normandy format meeting with German Secretary of State Benedict Zimmer. The talks were held during a meeting at the International Forum in Halifax, the Ministry of Defense press service reported.

Zagorodniuk and Zimmer raised the issue of developing a joint strong position during the Normandy Four summit. The head of the Ukrainian defense department invited German colleagues to study the Ukrainian experience in countering hybrid aggression and building the Lessons Learned System.

Earlier Andrii Zagorodniuk said that the "Steinmeier formula" has become a media product.

He explained his opinion by saying that this formula had never been written down anywhere.

"This verbal formula (because it is not written down anywhere) is a media product. Steinmeier himself, and he is the president of Germany, does not know what a Steinmeier formula is. He just called it an algorithm and then it was called a formula," Zagorodniuk said.

Zagorodniuk added that this algorithm could only work if troops' withdrawal and border control were achieved.
