Russia would like to see a pro-Russian government in Ukraine and restore what it calls a "normal situation", but has received the opposite. This was stated at the Brussels forum by US special representative Kurt Volker, Radio Liberty writes.
According to him, everything changed after the attack on Ukraine, the annexation of Crimea and the occupation of the Ukrainian east, which is now continuing.
Thus, Volker stressed, Russia received a "more united, more nationalistic and oriented toward the West and anti-Russian Ukraine."
According to the US special envoy, this trend is "deepening every day," and the young generation of Ukrainians is completely lost to Russia, as they "perceive it as an aggressor and occupier."
Volker added that in the case when Russia wants to achieve its goals regarding influence on Ukraine and Ukraine's approach to itself, "it should begin with the withdrawal of troops from Eastern Ukraine."
We recall, today Kurt Volker also commented on the Minsk agreements. In his opinion, the problems of the end of the war in Donbas are not in the content of the Minsk agreements, but in their implementation.
