The head of the President's Office Andriy Yermak took part in a working meeting of political advisers to the leaders of the Normandy Four states. The meeting took place in the format of a video conference. This was reported by the press service of the head of state.
During the meeting, Foreign Policy Advisor to the German Chancellor Jan Geker noted progress on the Ukrainian side, in particular, the opening of two new checkpoints in the Luhansk region. He called on Russia to take immediate measures to open a pass from the territories not controlled by the Ukrainian government, which are now blocking the work of these checkpoints.
Geker also noted the need to ensure unhindered access for representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross to places of detention in the temporarily occupied territories of Donbas to speed up the process of verification of the lists of prisoners.
The head of the President's Office thanked the partners from Germany and France for the initiative to hold a video conference, support for the ceasefire in Donbas and support for Ukraine as a whole.
Earlier, Ukrainian President and French leader Emmanuel Macron called for a summit of leaders of the Normandy format countries as soon as possible.
The Kremlin also gave an assessment of the speedy holding of the Normandy meeting. Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for Russian leader Vladimir Putin, said that initially the parties must fulfill the agreements that were reached by the heads of state in Paris.
