Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba has commented on the audio of a two-year-old talk between then adviser of Ukraine’s President Andriy Yermak and ex-lawyer of Donald Trump Rudi Giuliani. According to the minister, Yermak did everything right, despite the pressure from Giuliani, as he reported on Facebook.
“Another portion of recordings of Giuliani heats the imagination of readers about the supposed role of Ukraine in the attempts of former President Trump to “overhaul” current President Biden in 2019,” he wrote.
The minister called diplomacy "non-linear" and stated that the maneuvers in it are necessary if they help to reach the final goal – protect the national interests.
Kuleba believes that in 2019 Ukraine faced a serious challenge when there was an active attempt to involve it in the inner policy of the U.S.
According to him, the national interest of Ukraine has always lied in keeping the bipartisan support of the U.S. and withheld the accusation of Ukraine in play into the hands of any side.
“It was diplomacy in terms of the perfect storm. Despite huge threats, Ukraine succeeded to deal with them and pass this period of time decently. The talk of Andriy Yermak was a part of a difficult diplomatic game. He did everything right, he held talks within the limits of the constructive diplomacy,” Kuleba wrote.
Meanwhile, he recognized that during this talk, Trump’s lawyer “with his unverified information and clear goal to involve Ukraine in the inner policy of the U.S.” put pressure on Yermak.
“Let American Facebook and justice estimate the role of Giuliani. We passed our test became neither President Zelensky noir Andriy Yermak as a direct source of Giuliani allowed to involve our country in the inner-American conflict and did not part brass rags with then administration,” Kuleba added.
As we reported, CNN owns the audio of the talk between adviser of ex-U.S. President Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani, and senior adviser of Ukraine’s president in 2019 Andriy Yermak. The record shows that Giuliani put pressure on the Ukrainian official.
