Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the UN Volodymyr Yelchenko

The U.S. administration agreed that Volodymyr Yelchenko may be appointed Ukraine's ambassador in this country. Ukraine's Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko said so in an interview with UNIAN

"We already received the agrement. We made our choice two months ago... This is Volodymyr Yelchenko, our incumbent representative in the UN", he said.

Ukraine also received agrements from several other countries, Prystaiko added. "In the near future, we'll be able to publish the decrees about the appointment of a number of leaders of missions that are important to us", the Minister said.

Previously, Ukrainian media reported that the U.S. preliminarily agreed on Yelchenko's appointment as Kyiv's ambassador in Washington. The diplomat has been Ukraine's permanent representative in the UN since 2015. It is expected that he will now be replaced with Serhiy Kyslytsia, Ukraine's Deputy Foreign Minister who is responsible for cooperation with international organizations.
