The lawyers of former Ukrainian leader Viktor Yanukovych failed to appear at the session hall of Pechersk district court in Kyiv. This judicial authority is currently looking into the opportunity of the special investigation into the Euromaidan case – a request by Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine.

The prosecutors asked the court to assign the government attorney to protect Yanukovych’s interests.

It appeared that instead of Pechersk court, Yanukovych’s defense team came to Obolon court, which considers the case of state treason. The lawyers presented Yanukovych’s statement, in which he asked the court to bring back his former defense team.

The lawyers also said they intend to join the interviews of witnesses in the Euromaidan case.
