Protection of former President Viktor Yanukovych has returned the suspicion of treason to the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine, announced the Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko during interrogation.
Yanukovych’s Lawyer Vitaliy Serdyuk filed for the return of suspicion and of summonses for questioning.
Recall that Yanukovych has been sent summons for questioning on December 5 and 9. In particular, the Lawyer said that the Prosecutor General's Office had no right to take proceedings in the proceedings in which Yanukovych was a witness. Also, the protection of the former president said that the procedure for notification of suspicion had been violated.
"Now, my client does not have a status of a suspect in this case. I returned the suspicions to the General Prosecutor Lutsenko, which were announced during a break in the court session on the Berkut case, as something improperly declared and improperly handed", said Serdyuk in the air of 112 Ukraine TV Channel.
Prosecutor General's Office asked the former president to appear on December 5 and 9 at 10:00 am Kyiv time to the chief of the investigation department of the Main Military Prosecutor's Office of the General Prosecutor's Office Leshchenko.
Yanukovych is summoned as a suspect to participate in the interrogation and perform other procedural actions in criminal proceedings.
Note that the General Prosecutor of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko declared that Yanukovych is suspected of treason on November 29 before his interview as a witness in the case of five former Berkut Special Forces officers.
