Viktor Yanukovych, the ousted Ukrainian leader and high-ranked officials from his administration laundered over 7 billion U.S. dollars while staying in office in 2010-2014. The press department of Ukraine’s State Financial Monitoring Service reported that on January 30.  

From March 2014 till December 2016, the agency prepared 547 documents regarding the financial operations conducted by former top-rank officials who served during Yanukovych’s regime. The Service froze about 1.5 billion dollars of the respective assets, which belong to entities and individuals tied to the ex-president and his administration.

The authority is also searching and freezing foreign assets of the officials; currently, the service reports that there are available assets in Austria, Latvia, Cyprus, Italy, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
