John Herbst, the former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine in 2003-2006 claimed that not many people congratulated Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia on the win at the election because it was fake as Ukrinform reported.
'Some leaders congratulated Putin but there are not many of them. The reason why others did not phone is that this election was fake', Herbst said.
He noted that usually, the phone calls with congratulations are made within 24 hours since holding of the election.
'The Russian economy shows law indexes of growing and we can observe the period of the stagnation, impasse. It can last for some time', he added. According to ex-ambassador, the economic reforms did not take place in Russia and moreover, they are not expected.
Herbst noted that the position to make the compromise and strengthening of the understanding that aggression in Donbas is unsuccessful and it is time to change something began to be seen in Moscow.
As we reported U.S. and EU leaders did not congratulate Putin on his win.
The current President Putin beat a record of the support, receiving 56.2 million of votes or 76.65 percent of votes, with 99% ballots processed.
