Wizz Air Company in Riga did not allow Russian journalists Alexey Semenov and Denis Kamalyagin to the flight to Kyiv, where they were supposed to participate in the presentation of a book, as Hromadske reported citing Free Russia House representative Greg Frolov.
The journalists were not allowed to the plane of Wizz Air in Riga due to the policy of the transport operator toward the citizens of Russia.
“They are journalists-investigators, who were the first to confirm the participation of the Russian military in Donbas war, precisely, Pskov paratroopers,” Frolov noted.
The journalists were supposed to fly to Kyiv on March 23; they had booked tickets but they were not allowed to the plane during the boarding.
“Wizz Air Company released the internal regulation within which they do not admit the Russian citizens aiming to Kyiv on the board if they do not have the diplomatic passport or residence permit,” Frolov said.
He thinks that the transport operator decided to be reinsured in such a way as the Ukrainian border guards do not always pass the Russians to Ukraine.
“From the other side, they provide the possibility to buy tickets without problems, check in and during the boarding they informed people that they are not admitted to the plane. We find such situation outrageous. They cannot accept the responsibilities of the Ukrainian state and decide who is admitted to the plane to Ukraine and who is not. We plant to make a new list of the complaints to them and all possible organizations, which can influence this company,” Frolov emphasized.
Border Guard Service spokesperson Oleg Slobodyan stated that he was not aware of such rule toward the Russians at Wizz Air Company.
