U.S. President Donald Trump will address the impeachment charges announced on Tuesday during the Senate trial phase of the proceedings. It was stated by the White House, Reuters reports.

“The President will address these false charges in the Senate and expects to be fully exonerated, because he did nothing wrong,” White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham said in a statement.

Grisham also added that she is not going to "get ahead of what he may do but I am sure we will participate in some way, certainly with our counsel”.

“And we are going to be calling on witnesses and we hope that they will participate,” she added.

As we reported earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump wants an impeachment trial to go forward in the U.S. Senate because he would receive due process there and he expects Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden would be among the witnesses, Reuters informed.

“President Trump wants to have a trial in the Senate because it’s clearly the only chamber where he can expect fairness and receive due process under the Constitution,” spokesman Hogan Gidley said in a statement.
