The representatives of Ukraine and the U.S. would like to discuss the achievements of the Ukrainian authority and achievements of the bilateral cooperation of the states during the visit of Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky to the White House, as Pryamy reported citing U.S. Special Envoy to Ukraine Kurt Volker.
Volker said that the U.S. government supports the initiatives of Zelensky on the reforms tied with the corruption, de-oligarchization, rapprochement with the EU and NATO.
“The U.S. government willingly supports the initiatives, announced by Mr. Zelensky during the election campaign and which are announced now during the formation of the government. It is about the promises to remain faithful to the reforms and fight against corruption and intention to continue the de-oligarchization and announced a way of the rapprochement with the EU and NATO. We also highly appreciate the statements that Ukraine will fulfill its part of commitments for the achievement of peace,” Volker said.
But the U.S. expects the beginning of the work of the new government and expresses the desire to work with the new team of the Ukrainian authority to discuss the achievements and results of the work of the new parliament and joint cooperation during the meeting of two leaders.
“President Zelensky had no possibility to implement his initiatives yet as the parliament has not begun its work. I believe it will take place the next week. And we will see what government will be formed, who will become the prime minister, who will head the MFA. And we would like to work with the new team on the implementation of all announced intentions and initiatives. And we would like to be able to talk about the achievements of the Ukrainian authority and our achievements in the bilateral cooperation during the visit of President Zelensky to the White House,” Volker said.
However, U.S. Special Envoy to Ukraine did not specify the particular date of the visit. The work on the date continues but possibly, the presidents will be able to meet during the events in Warsaw.
Earlier, Chargé d'affaires a.i of the U.S. in Ukraine William Taylor claimed to prepare the official visit of Ukraine’s President to the U.S. In particular, the Presidents might meet in Poland in September, yet the date of the official visit is not agreed.
Deputy Foreign Minister for European Integration Olena Zerkal stated that the presidents would sign the number of the documents during the meeting.
