The Chairman of the Political Council of “Opposition Platform – For Life” political party Viktor Medvedchuk is sure that the conflict in Donbas cannot be resolved without taking into account Russia's position. “After all, there is the position of Russia. We may like it or do not like it, but we should take it into account. If we do not take it into account, there will be no agreements,” he said on the “Big Interview” show on 112 Ukraine.
The politician also told about how exactly Russia’s position should be taken into account. "They say: the opinion of Donetsk and Luhansk is important for us. Opinions of these unrecognized entities, individual regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, should be taken into account, they should take part in the negotiation process. And if this won’t be fulfilled, then Russia, having the influence on Donetsk and Luhansk, says: “Yes, we have influence, yes, we can contribute to the negotiation process, but after all, these republics should be in the negotiation process,” noted Medvedchuk.
He also stressed Russia's position on the peacekeeping mission. "Russia offered its own version, which does not suit Ukraine, but when Ukraine began to speak, demand or propose that this peacekeeping mission had classical forms, Russia answered: please agree with Donetsk and Luhansk. If they say yes, we agree to that" - added the Chairman of the Political Council of “Opposition Platform – For Life”.
Earlier, Medvedchuk noted that Ukrainians are wise people and maintain friendly, good-neighborly relations with the Russians.
